Happy Monday everyone! (Let's just pretend at least). It's midterm season once again, meaning I've been crazy busy with school work. Like one of those weeks where you're so busy that you don't even want to open your planner. It wasn't so much that I had a lot to do but the things I did have to do were super important. I'm convinced if I can survive organic chemistry I can survive everything at this point. I've go one more exam tomorrow then I get a little break for a week or so. It seems like the test just never end!

I cannot believe that it's almost March. This month has literally flown by and I'm not too mad about it. I am so over this cold weather. It hasn't snowed at much here as it has back home, and without snow I hate this weather; at least the snow makes it pretty.

I really wish I was going somewhere for spring break, but this year I'm staying home. It will be nice to spend some time relaxing at home and having a little extra time to study. (I'm a nerd I know) I have to stop at Ikea on my drive home to pick up some things for my new vanity. While this may not be very exciting for most people, I kind of can't wait. Even being the neat freak I am, I've never actually been to an Ikea. There aren't any in my area and the only ones in my state are near the city.

I plan on doing a fun DIY post about putting together my new vanity once I'm home for the summer. I got the idea from Pinterest so hopefully it will turn out okay. If not it will be a funny (hopefully) #PinterestFail. Speaking of summer, I'm also painting my room this summer so if you have any tips or tricks please share them in a comment or a DM on my Instagram!

I made a few updates to the blog this weekend. I fixed a few broken links and now all my seasonal fashion tags should be up and running again. I replaced my "Shop" link to go directly to my shopstyle page so that every look I put up through there will be in the same spot for you guys. Hopefully you guys like that format a little better. Everything you need to know about blue light glasses

I’m sure by now you’ve all heard about blue light that is emitted from your screens. Every time I go on Instagram I see another ad or a blogger talking about blue light glasses, some prescription others not. But what do these glasses do exactly? They’re meant to block the wavelengths of light that are emitted from electronics that give off blue light. This blue light can tell your brain to stay awake and can mess with your sleep schedule.
 I read up on these mysterious glasses before I took the plunge and bought a pair and from my research there isn’t much scientific evidence that these work to reduce any eye strain like so many people advertise. You should still be taking breaks when you’re spending a lot of time in front of the screen, special glasses or not. 
Most of the blue light that enters your eyeballs is from the sun, like an overwhelming amount. And since for years and years people have been getting this blue light sent into their eyes before we were consumed by screens, we cannot conclude that blue light causes significant harm to the eye in normal doses (sorry my science side is coming out a bit). So are these blue light blockers totally useless? No!
A lot of the doctors interviewed for the articles I read said that these blue light glasses are great to wear at night if you need to do any work on your computer after the sun has gone down. It helps keep your brain on schedule with the sun and can help your screens stop disrupting your sleep. You should still be shutting down about 2 hours before bed though (impossible, I know) Outside of this though, there’s not much other proven helpful uses for them. 
With that being said, I got a pair for myself to test out. For the most part I do only wear them at night, I really do think that they help with my sleep. I used to put my phone down after some scrolling and lay in bed for what seemed like forever tossing and turning until I eventually picked up my phone again and kept scrolling until I was so exhausted that I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Really bad, I know. Now I find it so much easier to put the phone down and not go back to it before falling asleep; major win. 
I have always found that when I was in classes where a white screen was being projected onto a white wall that I was staring at for a while, when I tried to focus my eyes on something else, like my professor or my notebook it took me a little bit longer to adjust and my eyes felt tired and dry. After getting my (super cute) blue light glasses, I wanted to test out if they would help this at all by wearing them to class. It’s been about 2 weeks now and I think I can confidently say that it does, it could be a placebo or it could actually help, but I’m not getting that deep into it. I’ve also worn the glasses during the day time working on my computer, but I haven’t noticed any difference in strain or dryness. So, with the exception of my long lectures I only put these babies on around 6pm when I’m looking at screens. I urge you all to do your own research and use your own judgment on what you find the benefits are, but keep in mind all the things you learned about reliable sources in high school. Bloggers are not a cite-able medical source (most of them at least, myself included).

My Favorite Winter Skin Care Products

I'm sure we all know that the cold, dry, windy weather we get in the winter can wreck havoc on our skin. Do chapped lips and dry, pale skin ring any bells? 
Living in New York, we get some of the worst of it, so it's important to have a routine thaw actually works. It probably goes without saying that moisturizing is the most important part of keeping your skin healthy in the cold, but I've found that there's a few other key steps have drastically changed winter skincare for me.

 I tend to get small eczema breakouts on my nose, mostly in the winter time. When I already have a flare up, my go to treatment is the Aveeno Hydrocortisone Cream that you can get over the counter per recommendation by my dermatologist, but obviously the goal is to try and avoid them in the first place. 
I use my Clarisonic  Mia Smart to lightly exfoliate my skin every time I wash my face. I like this better than using a physical or chemical exfoliator because I feel like they just irritate my skin too much. I like to follow that up with a toner, the Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray is a great, easy option. Once a week I'll follow this step up with a mask, I linked a few of my favorites.  It's super important to put on a thick moisturizer at night, especially after putting your kin through so much. Some days I'll use an overnight moisturizing mask like the one I linked, but usually I'll just use the First Aid Beauty one. This moisturizer has totally changed my life, no joke.  It works wonders on my patches of dry skin, but doesn't make me oily in my T-zone. 
Besides the face, the rest of your skin deserves a little extra love too. I was introduced to the Neutrogena Body Oil at the Amazon store at my school and I love. It's so light and is perfect to use after a shower. 
Speaking of showers, this St. Tropez in shower self tanner is perfect for all of us pale girls. It's easy to use and develops gradually so you don't get streaks or turn orange. I actually use this year round. It provides the perfect glow to make you look healthy and not like a ghost. 
It may seem like a lot, but once you get  a routine down, it's like second nature.

Happy February everyone! I have seen soo many people talking about how happy they are that it's February because January felts so long, and I honetly don't feel that way. Maybe it's because I was balancing work, a winter class and trying to declutter my spaces a home , but I feel like the last few weeks of January flew by.
Since it has been so insanely cold the past few weeks (and it's only gotten worse) I've been leaving the house as little as possible.  The few times I have, I've made sure that I'm bundled up in plenty of layers, which means that this scarf has been seeing lots of action lately. It's not only the perfect colors for this month but also for transitioning into Spring when it's still cold enough to now in New York.
Speaking of spring, the spring clean bug has gotten to me early this year. When I was home for break last month I started 3 major organization projects: My bedroom, my bathroom and my basement desk/craft/planning area.  I got a pretty great start, but there definitely was not enough time to finish. I'm hoping to get them all done when I'm home for spring break in March. 
There pictures were taken only a week or so after Christmas, but I'm finally just now getting around to put them in a post for you guys. I think it kinds of fits though since I had some cute pops of pink which are perfect for this time of year. Fun fact, the bag I'm holding isn't actually mine! I had my little Coach Backpack that I got for Christmas, until we realized that Ally's purse worked so much better. Shoutout to best friends who always have your back.
