My Everyday Makeup Routine + Bare Minerals Made2Fit Review

March 18, 2018

Hola Amigos! Fun fact about me, I took 6 years of Spanish between Middle School and High School. Too bad I can barely translate anything anymore. I'm hoping Dulingo will change that!

Before you read anymore, make sure you go read my last post and enter my giveaway in collaboration with Smile Brilliant. All the details are at the bottom of the post.

Because that post had to go up last week I had to hold off my Made2Fit review and sharing y everyday makeup and some outfit details from my little winter wonderland adventure my friend and I took a few weeks ago. But fear not! I promised it would come so here it is.

Outfit Details: Sweater (similar) | Jeans | Belt | Necklace (similar) | Boots

I was able to try out the Bare Minerals Made2Fit app and foundation thanks to Influenster (Seriously guys, they're the bomb digity!)
The app curates a foundation the is perfectly matched to your skin using scans that you take of various parts of your face. I wanted to try this for myself see how accurate this really was.

Let me show you how it works in a little more detail.
First you need to go to the app store and download the  bareMinerals Made2Fit app. It's got a pretty nude pink icon that I actually love.

When you open the app, you are walked through the entire process with picture, video and voice instructions from calibrating your device to where to scan and how to order. It really only takes 5 minutes to get a foundation that's a perfect match to your skin.

I was so excited when I got my bottle, which is personalized with your name, so I tried a swatch on my cheek. Guys I'm not joking when I say I went about the rest of my day forgetting I only had a little patch of makeup on and not a single person could tell that's how well this matched.

So what about the formula? I tend to lean toward foundations that are on the lighter coverage side for my everyday makeup because I don't like the feeling of having a ton of foundation on all day. This foundations feels as light as a feather, while also covering up any uneven coloring I have on my skin. I do find I need to add concealer under my eyes and to any blemishes, but that's expected with a light coverage foundation. My favorite concealer are the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the Shade Vanilla and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in the "Brightener" Shade. I apply all my liquid/cream products with a makeup sponge

My skin is on the more oily side and this foundation has a natural finish, so do make sure to set it with a powder. I prefer to use a big fluffy brush and a loose translucent setting powder like the Laura Mercier Setting Powder or the Clinique Blended Face Powder, which I've had for year and am currently using to finish up.

I do find that the foundation looks a little oily and like some may have came off by the end of the day, but you can easily help that by using a good primer, reapplying powder throughout the day and using a matte finish setting spray at the end of your makeup routine.
I have used the Benefit POREfessional Primer forever, but if that's not your jam the Too Faced Hangover RX works great too. As for setting sprays, I swear by the Urban Decay All Nighter. If you want a cheaper alternative, the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray is a great dupe.

I like to warm up my face (since I'm a ghost that can't get a tan) and add some dimension back into my face with a matte bronzer. I take an angled blush brush and sweep Benefit's Hoola Bronzer under my cheek bones, on my temples and under my chin to add a little bit of contour and add color to my skin. If I'm using a blush that day I'll use a little bit of the Too Faced Papa Don't Peach Blush, but usually I just go right to my highlighter. Depending on the look, I'll use Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector in Moonstone for a warmer glow or Make Up Revolution's Vivid Baked Highlighter in Radiant Lights for a cooler, more purple toned highlight.

I keep it really simple on my eyes. Using a fluffy blending brush I pick up a little bit of my bronzer and blend it into my crease. I like to put on a little black eyeliner, just so that any mascara I get on my lid isn't as noticeable. The Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner and Marc Jacobs Gel Eye Crayon are two of my favorite pencil liners. I love long voluminous lashes and if you've read any of my other beauty posts you know I SWEAR by the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, I seriously haven't tried a mascara that I like better. I also like to add a lash primer to help hold a curl. So far I've only tired the Tarte Opening Act Primer.

For brows and lips I keep it pretty simple. I like to quickly define and darken my brows a little with either a pencil like the Soap and Glory Archery Pencil or a gel like the Benefit Gimme Brow (RIP but they're launching the Gimme Brow + soon!!) I keep my lips super soft and add a little color with the Glam Glow Poutmud

I know it looks like a lot, but I've gotten this process down to about 10 minutes in the morning. Practice makes perfect! Or just makes you faster.

Easy At Home Professional Teeth Whitening with Smile Brilliant + Giveaway!

March 11, 2018

I want to start off by saying a huge thank you to Erin and the amazing staff at Smile Brilliant for the opportunity to review their whitening system. A little disclaimer before we start: while this product was sent to me, all opinions are my own. This post is a collaboration with Smile Brilliant.

Now that is out of the way, let me give you guys a little whitening experience background. After I got my braces off in 8th grade my mom and I wanted to make sure my teeth stayed as nice as possible. I went to an extra cleaning for a while and when I was a freshman or sophomore I first started whitening my teeth. Before that I had used whitening toothpastes with I didn’t see much of a difference with so I was excited to be trying out something that would work. The first whitening product I used after that were these tray/strip hybrids made of a waxy material on the outside with the product lining the inside. I used these everyday for a 30-60 min as the box instructed and my teeth were noticeable whiter, but not by anything more that a shade or so. I wasn’t crazy about how these felt so next I tried strips which worked just about as well as the last one but they were so flimsy that I had to keep adjusting them during the whitening process. I kept using the whitening strips before special events like prom and graduation but I could never keep up with it; it was too much of a hassle. I never ventured into professional whitening because it was far to expensive for someone working a minimum wage summer camp job, and I didn’t want to ask my parents to pay for that.

It had been about a year since my last whitening session and I had just purchased a new set of those dreaded strips when I received an email from heaven, I mean Smile Brilliant. They offered me a chance to try their professional quality whitening system and share one with you guys as well. Keep reading to find out how you can win that

So I was so super excited about opening this that I didn’t take a picture of my box before I tore into it 😬 sorry guys! But it comes with trays to take molds, three pots of base, three of catalysis (both are for the molds),3 syringes of desensitizing gel and whitening gel.

The first step of the process was making the molds for the trays. If you’ve ever had braces, making the molds for you trays is just like when the orthodontist takes a mold of your teeth before and after except less traumatizing and not horrible tasting. I had to mix a blue polymer and a white activator together, put it in the mold tray and hold it on my teeth for 3 minutes for top and bottom.

One those are done, you pack the molds back up into the cute little pink pre-paid package that comes with your kit and send them back to Smile Brilliant where they work some magic. Within a week or so you have another cute pink package in the mail with the final product that is your whitening trays. There are a lot like the clear retainers or Invisalign if you’ve ever had either (sorry for all the orthodontic references)

After you get your whitening trays back in the mail you’re ready to rock and roll. It’s recommended that you prep your teeth by using the desensitizing gel for a few days. I have relatively sensitive teeth, so I prepped for 3 days before I started whitening. The process is super easy, you brush your teeth with just water, floss, line the front of the trays with a thin strip of the whitening gel, leave it on for 45 minutes up to 2 hours, brush your teeth normally clean the trays and line them with the desensitizing gel that stays on for 20 minutes. You can’t eat or drink after so it’s easiest to do this at night before you go to bed. I started out at 45 minutes and increased the time by 15 minutes each day I did it. Like I said before, my teeth are more on the sensitive side so I skipped a day between each session.

They trays are super comfortable, and you can go about the rest of your night without even thinking about them. This is really great, especially with my busy schedule. I was able to pop the trays in and get some homework done or a post written while I waited. Then I’d put the desensitizing gel on, hop in the shower and go to bed when I was done. It couldn’t be easier!

I noticed a difference in my teeth within a week of using the system and after finishing my teeth were noticeably white to others too! Before I would always get in my car and look and the mirror and the first thing I would notice was stained my teeth looked, but after using Smile Brilliant one of the first things I notice is how much brighter they look. I’m a girl who loves her iced coffee and I’m so glad this whitening holds up through my coffee obsession. As someone who is always taking lots of pictures, it’s definitely boosted my confidence especially when I’m taking shots that are closer to my face

Final Thoughts:

This product gets two thumbs up from me. You don’t need to carve out huge chunks of time to go to a dentist’s office or pay an arm and a leg for professional whitening. The trays are sturdy and reliable. The results were exactly what I hoped they would be and I will definitely be using Smile Brilliant again when it comes time to whiten again.

Spring Break Wishlist-2018 Florida Edition

March 4, 2018

Right now there are 6 inches of snow and counting outside my window so I think its safe to say Spring isn't here yet, but we are in the process of planning a vacation to the sunny state of Florida at the end of them month. My spring break is pretty late for most colleges, but I get a week and a half off because of Easter. Fun little fact: This trip will be my first time on a plane! It's been a hot minute since I've been on a proper vacation so you could say I'm a little excited for this trip.
Obviously a new trip means shopping for new clothes to wear on said trip and since I got rid of a ton of clothes I'm in need of a new Spring wardrobe.

Shop the look

How cute would that top look the skirt?! I've been dying to get my hands on a good denim skirt. Those wedges look so comfortable and you could wear them with so much.
I used to think hard shell suit cases were so weird but now I can really see the appeal for travel; I'm hoping I can find a good quality one on the cheaper side before my trip.

I can't wait to take a bunch of amazing pictures to share with you guys. If you're not already make sure you go follow me on Instagram @cuteandclassyblog

Leave me a comment with any recommendations you guys have for things to do/places to eat in the Tampa/Orlando area!
