Coffee Date no. 7

January 28, 2018

It's been a hot minute since I've written a post, so it only seemed fitting to get back on track with an update post for y'all.

The Spring semester started last Tuesday for me, so I've really been focusing on starting off on a good foot and getting ahead on as much work as possible. It's inevitable that I'm going to push things off and get super stressed later in the semester, so it's best to get on top of things now.
As I'm sure you already know if you've been reading my posts for a while, I really love note taking. I've really been liking using a combination of typed and handwritten notes on my iPad for my classes, especially my Biology class. It's a little harder to do for my Physics class since there's so many equations and diagrams so I tend to just hand write those. If you want to see how I was taking my notes last semester I already have one post about it, which you can find here. If you want to see another (better) post about my note taking in a little more detail let me know in the comments!

The Thursday before classes started, I came down with a pretty nasty cold. I had a fever for 3 days and then it turned into a stuffy nose and finally, just in time for school a really, really loud cough. Seriously guys, I had to step out during some classes it was so distracting, even to myself. That's the main reason I wasn't able to get a post up the past few posting days. I just didn't have the energy to make it to my laptop. Luckily I'm feeling much better now but this cough just wants to stick around.

My best friend started at her new school two days before I went back, so I went with her to help move into the dorms. Let me just say guys, I am very grateful to have my own bathroom and a room the size that mine is. I've seen small dorm rooms but this is by far the tinniest one I think there has ever been. It was definitely sad saying goodbye because we have lived 5 minutes away from each other almost our while lives, for a while we were even around the corner, but I know she's going to kill it at her new school and have so much fun. It doesn't hurt that she's less than 2 hours away either. After that I became so much more real to me that the few months I have left at home are going to fly by and pretty soon I'll be the one moving out and going to a new school.

The Beginners Guide To Student Discounts

January 14, 2018

A lot of chain restaurants will offer a free item or a discount with a student ID. Buffalo Wild Wings gives you 10% off and Chipotle will give you a free drink.
A lot of companies like Adobe and Apple will offer special student pricing for their software.

Some of my favorite student discounts

Amazon - 6 months of Prime services for free. 50% off membership after the trial period is over. (It’s super easy for transfer student to cheat the system. Shh no one tell).
Spotify+Hulu - this is one of my favorite deals. Students can get Spotify premium for half off ($4.99/ month). Recently they’ve teamed up with Hulu and students with a Premium Student account can activate Hulu for no extra charge. Just make sure you use the same email for both to make things easier.
Apple Music - similar to Spotify you can get Apple Music student pricing at $4.99/month.
Chegg - If you haven’t discovered Chegg yet you’re really missing out. You can rent or buy hard copy or online textbooks. They offer free shipping on orders over $50. My books were so cheap last semester I didn’t even reach the minimum (a bit of a win-lose but oh well). They also pack the box with tons of cool stuff. You get free samples and exclusive offers for a variety of services. Definitely worth a try.
Kate Spade, Vineyard Vines and J. Crew - 15% off your purchase .

What are some of your favorite discounts I missed?

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale 2018 Tips

January 3, 2018

If you didn't know, the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale only happens twice a year. Items on their website are majorly discounted, but they go fast. The sale is only two days and starts Wednesday, January 3rd at 8am.

To help make sure you get everything you want, I've come up with some tips and tricks for navigating the sale. Read all the way to the end to see some of the things I would want if I was shopping the sale. (See number 6 on my last post to find out why I won't be)

After Party Sale Tips

ONE: Make up an account
Set up an account on the Lilly Pulitzer website if you don't already, and stay logged in to save time. There will be a lot of traffic to the site so you want to make sure you do this before it starts to slow down.

TWO: Get there early
The sale starts at 8am, and like I said before the items go quickly. You'll want to make sure you set an alarm and grab some food and coffee before you sit down to shop. You get put in a virtual waiting line before you can get in to the sale, so get comfy and get there early to have the shortest wait possible.

THREE: Use multiple devices
Make sure they're all fully charged, and you have a good connection. You'll want to have a few different spots in line, and make sure you have a back up just incase anything goes wrong on the main device you're using to shop.

FOUR: Have a budget
It helps to have a plan and budget before you go into the sale so your bank account doesn't hate you after. It helps to have specific items in mind and know your size so you can quickly get in and out.

Things to remember

All sales are final; no returns or exchanges here

Start checking the site before 8 to get the best spot in line

Nothing is yours until you hit purchase. It's not yours while it's in your cart.

Things run a little big. This is my personal opinion but a lot of other people have said the same.

My After Party Sale Picks

A quick disclaimer before I get into my favorite picks for the sale: at the time I am writing this, I have not seen the items that are included in the sale. I cannot guarantee they will all be include but I will try to update the post as the sale goes on.

My 2018 New Year Resolutions

January 1, 2018

Happy 2018 everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and everyone stayed safe last night.
New Year's resolutions have a lot of negative connotations associated with them, but I think it's good to set goals to strive for, and some people need the fresh start of the new year to help kick it off.

I try to set pretty realistic goals to set myself up for success. With that being said, what is realistic to one person may not be to another and it's important to keep that in mind when you're reading posts like this.

Side note: Positivity aside, I am so not ready for the gym to be packed for the next month.

Here's to making 2018 your year and starting it off right!

If you guys want to help me out with my resolutions you can follow me on Instagram. Like and comment on my most recent picture and I'll follow you back! Leave a comment below with anything you want to see on the blog in 2018. Also, let me know if you made any New Year resolutions and what they are if you did.

Make sure you're on my email list so you don't miss a single post this year!
