The Best Hot Chocolate Ever!

December 8, 2017

Guys, yesterday I made the most amazing hot chocolate I have ever tasted in my 19 years on this planet. I'm not just tooting my own horn here, I promise. It was so creamy and chocolatey and sweet.

I am by no means claiming this as my own recipe, I just made a few modifications that  I think made it a little better.  The original post can be found here

My version of the recipe made one cup of hot chocolate

For this recipe you will need:

1 TBS Cocoa Powder (We both used Hershey's)
1/3 C White Sugar
1/4 C Light Cream
About 1 C Light Cream (to be added later)

  1. In a sauce pan (off heat), combine the Cocoa powder and sugar. Stir together until they are evenly mixed.
  2. Pour in the 1/4 cup of light cream and stir lightly. They dry ingredients will not mix well with the cream at room temperature, this is okay.
  3. Turn your burner onto medium heat and begin to constantly stir your mixture to assure it does not stick.
  4. Bring the mixture to a light boil for 1-2 minutes, being sure it does not burn.
  5. Turn the heat all the way down and stir in the rest of your cream. The amount of cream you add depends on how you like your hot chocolate. Less will be sweater and creamier, more will be more diluted.
  6. Continue stirring on a light simmer for about 5 minutes, or until you have reached you desired temperature.
  7. Let cool for a minute and pour into a mug
  8. Fill the pan with enough water to rise the extra chocolate off the sides and add that to you mug. This helps water it down a bit because of all the cream you used and doesn't let any go to waste

You can also do this with regular or condense milk like the author of the original recipe stated.

Enjoy your cup of cocoa next to a fire with a good book for the perfect winter afternoon.
Let me know if you guys make this and how you liked it! Once again all credit goes to the original author, I just made a few modifications and wanted to share this amazing recipe with you all.
