Easy Ways to Save Money This Summer

June 25, 2017

**The following post contains referral links and codes that can result in compensation, however this post is not sponsored by any company and all opinions are my own**

If you're like me, you're probably working a summer job right now, trying to save your money up for something. Tuition, a new car, an apartment, a new bag and the list goes on. Personally I'm saving up for a Jeep Wrangler.
While a summer job is a great way to rake in some money there are a few ways you can bring in some extra cash to help you reach your goal that much faster without having to miss out on all the fun summer activities.

Apps
I find that discount and rebate apps are the simplest way to make some extra cash. You can get/save some cash doing stuff you already do all the time!
My favorite app to use is Ibotta. This is a rebate app, so you basically just scan the app before you go shopping, make sure you unlock the rebate (usually just clicking a button, sometimes there's a short video) and then scan your receipt if there is anything that you unlocked earlier. They have bonuses you can get by redeeming a certain number of rebates in a given period of time, ad by referring friends. When you refer a friend you both get $10 when they start using the app. Use my code doiroln when you sign up to help a girl out.

Another great app is Groupon. You can get discounts on concerts, at restaurants and events that are happening near you. Not only do you get discounts, but it's also a great way to discover new things on those days you know you want to do something but have no idea what to actually go do. When you use my link you get $10 in Groupon credit.

Tricks
One of my favorite and super easy ways to save money is saving every $5 bill you get. When ever  get a 5 I put it away so that it's not in my wallet, tempting me to spend it. I have only been doing this for a few months, but I have already saved over $200!

Another thing I regularly do is save up all my spare change. Whenever I get home I empty my pockets, bag and car of spare change and put it in a jar. It all adds up really quickly and you don't even really realize your putting money away since the individual amounts are so small!

Quick Update!

June 23, 2017

Hi everyone!
This is going to be a short and sweet update post.

It was coming up on the renewal date for my blog domain. I was never crazy about the "the" that was at the beginning of thecuteandclassy.com, and didn't really want to pay for another year if I didn't like it.
Earlier today I was reading a post over on The Swirl and saw that they had "blog" at the end of their URL. That's when it hit me. I should take away "the" and add "blog" at the end of my URL to make it cuteandclassyblog.com. Not only would it make a little more sense, it would match my Instagram handle and look nd sound better!
Unfortunately that means I lost all my followers on Bloglovin' (All 60 of them, but hey I appreciate every one) so if everyone reading this could do me a huge favor and Follow my blog with Bloglovin I will be forever grateful.
I tried to make sure I updated everything that had the old URL, but if you see anything weird or have any issues with the new domain working incorrectly please do not hesitate to shoot me a DM or email at thecuteandclassy@gmail.com (I guess I should change that to match now too)

Summer Makeup Essentials

June 21, 2017

Cute and Classy receives commission from clicks and purchases from the following links

During the summer months, it's important to make sure you are using products that will stay in place through the heat, activities and probably water. You also don't want products that will clog up your pores while they're typically more enlarged than usual.
Lightweight and water resistant products are the key. SPF is a necessity and you want it to be packed into as many of your products as possible.
Today I'm sharing my summer make up (and a few skin care) essentials with you. Can you tell I like Benefit?

Base
It's important to start with a sunscreen as your base right after your normal skincare routine. You can opt for a cream or a serum but you need to make sure that is it noncomedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores. You can use a face spray, like a rose water ( I like the one from Mario Badescu) to refresh your skin and cool you down. This can be done throughout the day.
A face primer is optional. It will help your make up stay on longer, but it might make you feel a little cakey so this step is up to your personal preference.
I like to use light weight products on my face over to summer, so I like to opt for a tinted moisturizers, BB or CC cream. These all usually have SPF in them, so it's an added bonus.

Face

I like my makeup to be bronzed and glowy over the summer. I also try to avoid using a ton of powders that sweat off easily so I usually opt for liquid or cream versions.
Cheek stains are great because they stay on forever and feel like you hardly have anything on.
Benefit has a new liquid bronzer that I am dying to try out.
Layering a cream highlighter under a powder gives you an insane glow, and the cream alone gives a nice natural look.

Eyes
When it comes to eye make up over the summer I usually just do my eyebrows and some mascara. When I want to add a little more I like to pick super summery colors, like the ones in the Too Faced Sweet Peach Pallet. (Check out my post about it here
It's super important to use an eyeshadow primer to make sure your crease color doesn't end up in your eyebrow or you liner under your eyes.
It's also a good idea for your brow product to be waterproof so your brows don't sweat off. I swear by the Gimme Brow.
Waterproof mascara is a must over the summer! It doesn't run, you don't have to worry about it if you spontaneously decide to jump in a pool and it keeps your lashes curled longer. I know water proof mascara gets a bad rep for being hard to take off but with a shower first and a little olive oil it comes right off (and the oil is great for lash growth) I love the waterproof version of Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara.

HUGE Planner + Sticker Haul

June 18, 2017

In case you didn't know, all planners and planner supplies is on sale at Michael's this week for 40% off. That includes the Happy Planner, tons of stickers and some washi tape sets. Naturally I had to make a stop there and pick up some goodies.

If you follow me on Twitter you would know I'm in the middle of a planner crisis right now. My current planner ends this month and I don't have a new one yet. (Please leave all planner recommendations in the comments below) I had hoped to get a planner while I was at Michael's, but I wasn't crazy about the Happy Planner.
I did however come home with about $50 worth of stickers. I know, I'm a little disgusted too, but they were all just so cute!
I did pick up an $8 BlueSky/ Day Designer planner to use until I get a more permanent one and I have to say it's adorable!

Without further ado, here are all the goodies I picked up the other day. Most the stickers are Recollections and Create 365. There are almost 3,500 stickers in total!

This is the medium pink floral print weekly planner from the Day Designer/BlueSky collaboration. I was really torn between this one and the palm leaf one. I really like how it has a side that is for a bulleted to-do list and one that was left blank.

I think the pack in the middle of this picture is my favorite.

I think these post it "stickers" are so convenient for writing down extra little things in your planner.

I am way too excited to use that doughnut washi tape. And that mermaid set was just to cute to resist.

These gel pens are not only super cute but they write great! I'll definitely be using them in my planner all year.

What are your favorite ways to decorate your planner?

The Blue Sky Tag

June 11, 2017

Earlier this week my blog was nominated for the Blue Sky Tag by Alix at A Pint Sized Life. This means that I have to answer the 11 questions she came up with, come up with another 11 questions for the 11 blogs that I nominate for this tag.
Lets hop right in!

Why blogging?
I always loved watching girls do make up on YouTube. I was never comfortable enough to make videos of my own, but I noticed that a lot of them had blogs linked in their descriptions. That's when I really got into reading blogs. After a few months, I decided that it's something that I wanted to try out. A few years later, here we are!

What's the last thing you ate?
One of my all time favorites, mac and cheese. No, I'm not 5 years old.

What's your go-to outfit?
Rompers are always a great choice. They're comfortable, easy and always look put together. I do love my oversized t-shirts and shorts as much as the next girl though.

Who's your favorite band/singer?
I can't pick one! I do always turn up the radio when Sam Hunt and Shawn Mendes are on though.

Hot or cold coffee/tea?
Iced coffee all the way! Iced tea is pretty great too.

What's your guilty pleasure?
Is binge watching Netflix shows a guilty pleasure?

Snapchat or Insta-stories?
Insta-stories! It's so much easier to have one less app and account to keep up with, but that could just be me being lazy.

What's your zodiac sign?
I'm a Libra. My birthday is September 28th incase anyone wants to send gifts.

Name your biggest accomplishment (so far)?
I'd have to say it was graduating high school last year and getting into college. It sounds cliché, but it's true.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I would love to live by an ocean. Somewhere that still has all 4 seasons but not nearly as much snow as I'm used to in New England. If you know where this is please feel free to let me know.

What's your favorite quote?
This one tends to change based on the things going on in my life, but right now it's one from Audrey Hepburn. It's actually my lock screen as well.
"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

And your questions are:

Why do you blog?
Apple or Android?
What is your favorite season?
What show are you loving right now?
What's your go-to comfort food?
Eat in or take out?
What is your favorite fragrance?
Lake or ocean?
Where were you born?
What is your "power color" (or outfit)?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Good luck ladies!

How to Get Back on Track

June 7, 2017

After the stress of finals and my recent vacation, which you can check out here, I have definite fallen a bit behind when it comes to my eating and fitness habits. With summer upon us, and my job requiring me to be on my feet all day, I definitely want to make sure I'm not (totally) out of shape.
Today I'm sharing my tips for getting back on track after you've fallen off your fitness wagon.

Stock your fridge with fruits and veggies
The philosophy behind this one is simple; if there isn't junk in your house you can't eat it. Food that is more natural (think less processed) is so much better for your body and your health.

Stop by a farmer's market
To play off my last tip, farmer's markets are a great place to find fresh produce. You're also supporting local stores and farmers, so it's a win-win. You can find some really unique things there that might end up being your new favorite food.

Buy some new workout clothes
When you have cute new workout clothes you want to wear them, which means you're more likely to actually go workout. This doesn't mean you need to go out and buy new Nikes and Lulu leggings, Target or even Forever 21 has some super cute stuff too!

Find a plan that works for you
Everyone is different, which means everyone's approach to a healthy lifestyle should be a little different. Find a meal and workout plan that works for you. I know when I find a new workout or recipe on Pinterest, I get more motivated to do or make them. It's a great place for motivation.

What are some of your tips for hopping back on the fitness train?
