Coffee Date no. 2

March 29, 2017

I saw a post on It Starts With Coffee (which you can find here) rounding up all of the things Neely has been loving recently, that inspired today's post. Many other bloggers do something very similar but I liked the categories she broke hers down into so I wanted to take a quick moment to give credit where credit is due.

I took a week off to focus on wrapping things up before break that then got extended because I've been sick. I'm still pretty under the weather but I wanted to give you guys a quick fun post this week.

TV:
I just finished the original seasons of Gilmore Girls over spring break and now I'm on to the revival episodes. I just think that I can relate to Lorelai and Rory so much, and that relatability factor is probably why the show was so popular to begin with. I've also been watching the latest season of How to Get Away with Murder on Netflix and it's getting so intense! I won't give away any spoilers though

Books:
I tend to become a little obsessed when I find a TV show that I really like, and Gilmore Girls was no exception. A while back I saw a pin for the Rory Gilmore reading challenge. This was before I had seen every episode of the show. Needless to say, I have gone back and found the pin (here) and I am now attempting to read all the books that Rory read in the show, starting with The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It's just the start of an about 340 book journey, but luckily a good amount of them can be found free on iBooks.

Podcasts:
I really like listening to podcasts while I'm driving to school or when I'm doing things around the house. I really like Joe Santagato's podcasts, The Basement Yard and Other People's Lives. If you don't mind some vulgar language these podcasts are both hilarious and very interesting. You can check both of them out on iTunes and SoundCloud.

Beauty:
For the longest time, I refused to buy a "name brand" beauty blender. The Real Techniques sponge was my previous favorite. Last week I finally caved an bought one from the Beauty Blender brand and I am loving it! If you tend to go through them quickly and don't want to drop $20 every time it's probably not for you, but if you're gentle with it and clean it regularly I definitely recommend picking one up to try out.

Fashion:
Anything Spring! While it still hasn't been the warmest where I live, all the stores have their spring styles out and they're all so cute. Recently I got a blue and white, pin-striped, off the shoulder shirt from Express and I'm so excited to wear it. I got another slightly off the shoulder top (similar) from Francesca's that I know s going to look so cute with some strappy sandals.

Top 5 Tips for Prom

March 19, 2017

Prom season is quickly approaching. After 3 proms I think I just about have the whole thing down to a science. If you're going to prom, or any other formal event, you should focus of having fun, not stressing out! Today I'm sharing with you my self proclaimed expert tips.

Let the dress fit you
This may sound kind of odd but so many people buy a dress that doesn't quite fit with plans to lose weight before the event. I'll let you in on a little secret: it probably won't work. Instead you should buy the dress that fits you and if you happen to lose weight get it tailored.

Do a trial run
It's pretty common to have a trail hair appointment and that's for a good reason. Even if you show your stylist a picture, their version will probably come out a different so it's best to make sure you still like it that way. This is also a great time to try on your dress to get an idea of the whole look.

Do your own makeup
Unless you can get your makeup done for free somewhere or by a friend, I recommend doing it yourself to save some money. You can follow along with a YouTube video if your unsure of your skills. It's also lots of fun to practice the look and gives you a reason to get all done up and go out.

Take whoever you feel most comfortable with
This one mostly applies to those of us not in a relationship. Prom is not the place to have a first date. Go with someone you know you'll have a good time with, whether it's with a group of friends or a guy you're close with.

Wear your hair up
Prom season is hot. Dancing makes you sweat. Wear your hair up! There are so many cute updo's you can find on Pinterest. If you really have your heart set on wearing your hair down, try a half up half down look or one that will be easy to put up later in the night. You future self will thank you for the frizz-free pictures you'll have.

Bonus: Have Fun!

Let's pretend for a moment that I get to go somewhere warm and tropical this Spring Break. In this awesome alternate world I would get to go shopping for clothes and bathing suits to take with me on this awesome trip. I've put together a wish list of all those things I would buy. Yes, occasionally I have too much time on my hands.

What's on your Spring Break wish list? Do you get to go somewhere fun?

My Favorite Workouts

March 1, 2017

My Spring Break is officially 20 days away. While I am unfortunately not traveling anywhere this year, I still want to get be bikini-body ready. Summer bodies start in the winter! You can check out my post about the 5 things I already do every day for my health. I've tired out several different free apps and programs over the past few years. While some have worked, most didn't cut it for me. I wanted to share with you guys the workouts that have worked for me and kicked me into (better) shape.

Blogilates
This was the first program I ever tired doing. When I was sticking to it religiously, I saw a lot of progress and it worked great. I always followed the monthly calaendars but you can totally just pick a few of Cassie's videos to follow along with. This program is definitely one that works best for those of us who prefer working out at home. I'm not sure how well trying to follow a video would work at the gym.

Tone it Up
This is another free program that is very similar to Blogilates. Each week you get emailed a weekly schedule and you do workouts from the videos and picture graphics on their site. I liked this program because with the graphics it was easier to do at the gym and at your own speed. I would pick a workout for the area I wanted to work on that day and add in some cardio on a machine, usually the elliptical, and I would leave feeling like I had an amazing workout every time.

Nike + Training Club
This is a free app created by Nike. It's actually one that I have rediscovered in the past few weeks and the one I am currently using. You can set it up to follow a program or pick individual workouts that don't follow your program. Right now I am starting on the beginner 4 week program and I'm really liking it so far. All the workouts are designed and demonstrated by professional athletes, so you know they work!

Let me know what your favorite workouts are in the comments below! I always love trying new ones.
